Edited 7 months agoAs an irer and fan of The Beatles' work, I have had this album for many years, but I have to say that I prefer to listen to it in Stereo than in Mono. I notice the sound is fuller and rounder and not as raw as in the Mono version. I like the way Ringo's drums and cymbals sound better.
Great album, no distortion or noise on any track.

I prefer the mono version to the stero version. It plays like it suppose to the sound that it was was recorded. Not alot of hits on the album but it represents the raw sound of the Beatles. Maybe very bias but I am a kansas city boy and I respect this song on this album.

Edited one year agoI just got this today..I think this thing rocks!!
It’s my least favorite Beatles album but this pressing sounds very clear with 3D texture.
The 2014 Revolver sounds far worse in my opinion.
Buy with confidence…this sounds great.
I don’t think it sounds muddy at all..and cymbals sound crisp and shimmery. Paid $45 for mine last month…stop enticing flippers or the prices will get even sillier than they are now.

I Totally understand why so many people prefer the Stereo over the Mono on this album. Ok I’m knocking one star off because it Definitely lacks the Wow factor of the other 2014 monos. This sounds good, don’t get me wrong. But playing this after Any other 2014 Beatle mono, right away I have to turn the volume up. The bass is far less present. The beautiful detail of the other albums isn’t there either. Ringo’s cymbals don’t sound shimmery natural either. ‘S’ sounds like ‘Sh’. Also, there is a small degree of distortion on the vocals on every track. After this record finishes and I put on Revolver, I have to turn my volume back down to my usual listening level. So it’s an Obvious difference. I’m happy to own it as a Beatle collector. But I have to give Strong preference to my ‘76 UK Stereo for this album. I still love this but no way does the mono beat the stereo for this particular album.

Listening to this record now. Purchased new in 2014. Its flat noise free and sounds spectacular. I can say that it sounds just as good as my multiple stereo pressings. Just different. MONO is the way the Beatles sounded during Beatlemania. It is the sound they wanted. And it is fun to listen to both versions. I LOVE this album in general. The songs are so good and have great feel and emotion. The lyrics are more mature. The guitar work is so fantastic. Everything on the mono mix is where it should be. Overall this one gets an A+ from me for quality sound and a fantastic pressing.

Some people prefer the Stereo mix as opposed to the Mono mix of this album, I personally grew up with and love the Mono mix, and I think this album presents the mix in a way that no other format could. Comparing this to a 1st -4/-3, they’re not much different, albeit the 2014 has a stronger presentation and bass. Rock and Roll Music sounds incredible, I’m so glad I picked 2 of these up!

Edited 4 years agoMusic: the most underrated of their albums. This vinyl: warm and bassy, a little bit muddy at times (like in track A1), but even so, more defined and "punchier" than the 1987 mono CD, the other mono version that I have.

My least favorite from their British catalog. The USA lp releases broke these up between Beatles VI and Beatles '65, and in my opinion, '65 was the much better record for me. Still a 4 star record.
