$40+ to buy this in the US? Still kicking mysfelf in the ass when a local record chain had these at 14 a piece used, 20 bucks new..

Edited 11 months agoDead quiet super dynamic press! I know I'm becoming repetitive in Albini records reviews, but this record is amazing. It might be the one with the warmest sound of all, even more vivid than the other Shellac albums, if that's possible. It's absolutely incredible, incredible, the dynamics and the depth... Sooo good

Edited one year agoTiny bit of crackling between tracks on Side A during the first couple of songs. First song seems to be a bit more dull than the rest. Overall a great sounding record that comes at no surprise given that Albini & Weston are involved. 4.5/5 rounded up to a 5 this time.
Note: All of this is after a thorough clean.

Edited 10 years agoMy copy is slightly warped. For 180 gram vinyl that's disappointing. Another disappointment is the outer sleeve is put together like an inner sleeve: fold-over design (not a gatefold) - and there are big gaps where the glue is not adhered to the entire side surfaces around the LP. As for the CD included - there is no art or ink on it. Just a silver disc - no protective sleeve, naked, just sliding around inside the outer sleeve getting scratched. How is the controversial DMM pressing? Not bad, with some static in the quiet parts (on both sides). It's a bit of a humid day here so I know it's not environmental. No harshness in the upper end at all. Matter of fact sounds f*in great WRT the Shellac trade mark bombastic delivery - with a nice clean heavy bottom end... and natural sounding transients.
After a seven year hiatus the band has picked up right where they left off....
