Edited one year agoAny way to differenciate this and the 2014 press? Doesn't seem to be any way to, at least, according to the release.

I think that the sound on this pressing is pretty on point. I have a shallow beef with the latest repress of this album as it has quite significantly dropped the value of this pressing's collectability.
I think the sole reason being is that it's reissued in the exact same format of blue/white clear splatter that this one is styled in. Because overnight it's worth dropped down $200 easy.
Now honestly for me - it's really about opening the record for the first time and listening to it for that vinyl experience. The bonus is having a record I enjoy that is also extremely rare to find for a reasonable price - the collectability factor.
If that infamous limited "pink marble" copy of Sea Change by Beck had been repressed this year in that same style again, I feel like it's own value would decrease remarkably as well. But I don't own that one so that would be pretty-friggin-sweet.
Walking contradiction ladies and gentlemen. -
My setup includes a CD player. I decided to play this record and the CD of it at the same time, switching inputs between the two, in order to test the sound quality of this pressing. The CD was much clearer and the record had audible distortion. This record is a cool collector's item, and the vinyl is beautiful, but the quality is pretty bad. I would recommend not to get this unless you are a collector.

Very poor quality pressing. Not as bad as the recent From Under The Cork Tree repress, but still not that good nonetheless. The last track on every side is distorted heavily and many other tracks in general are distorted. Also, the handling of the bonus tracks is incredibly poor: the, "Now press repeat," message is before the bonus tracks when it should actually be after them as per the CD with bonus tracks. Now for the most major problem with this release: the intro riff of G.I.N.A.S.F.S. is cut off. It's just not there. Looks like I'll hunt down the picture disk after all because even a picture disk can be higher quality than this crap...
