Love And Rockets – Earth • Sun • Moon

the third Love and Rockets album never quite held sway with me like the first two (especially the first). but in retrospect, I find most any song on this album can suddenly wash through my brain on a given day. although it doesn't have the dark mysterious adventure that I love in their first album, the songs themselves have a nonetheless dreamy quality even if the gothic vibe is less identifiable -- there's a hypnotic staying power along with subtle experimentation blending olde timey structures with modern reinvention. little impressions along the roadside as one travels through the music. I also like the cd version concluding with the second take on Mirror People -- rather than just being an extra -- it brings the album full circle and simultaneously winds itself down into a sort of speechlessness by the time the track is over -- leaving the listener to behold themselves in their own silence ... or perhaps, hitting repeat.
