Das Album mit den meisten Hits und somit auch der kommerzielle Durchbruch von Herbert Grönemeyer. Wer in den 80er Jahren aufgewachsen ist, kann mindestens fünf der vorhandenen zehn Songs lautstark und textsicher mitsingen. Nicht nur aus dem Grund haben es die Songs „Bochum“, „Männer“ und „Alkohol“ auch auf meine „80er Jahre Fete“-Sampler geschafft. Auch fallen mir nur zu dieser Platte spätere Coverversionen ein, nämlich eine gute: „Männer“ von den Black Fööss, aber auch eine eher schlechte: „Flugzeuge im Bauch“ von Oli P.. Im Übrigen tauchte die Stadt „Bochum“ auch erst nach dem gleichnamigen Song auf deutschen Landkarten auf. Um kritische Worte war Herbert Grönemeyer schon damals nicht verlegen, zu hören in „Amerika“. Natürlich musste man damals noch das Textheft studieren, um manche Refrains richtig zu verstehen, z.B. „Wascht ihr nur eure Autos“ in dem Lied „Jetzt oder nie“. Den Song „Fangfragen“ hatte ich immer schneller in Erinnerung, textlich bleibt er aber ein Meisterwerk. Das Intro von „Erwischt“ hätte dann tatsächlich von den Black Fööss stammen können. Und das tanzfreudigste Stück „Mambo“ beendet dann diese Platte mit dem Gag „Danke James“. Ich glaube, nicht nur ich sage: Danke Herbert für diese schöne Platte!“
