Edited 6 years agoWith this release, Ghost brings four interesting covers into the Ghost mythology and gives us a live recording of "Secular Haze." Ghost performs "Crucified" and "Waiting for the Night" so well an unfamiliar listener might think the pack of ghouls wrote the songs themselves, and Swedish covers of Roky Erickson never disappoint. The whimsical chorus in "I'm a Marionette" doesn't work for me, but if you can convince Dave Grohl to play drums you must have something there. Hell, if you have ghosts you have everything. The live performance could use a boost in audio quality, especially considering the commercial success the band experienced on their first album - but it is a solid performance.
In of frills, this pressing doesn't have much. You get a nice jacket, a white sleeve, and a nice thick record. In my opinion, the record sounds great with no skips, minimal surface noise, and plenty of low end and punch compared to the digital copies I've heard. I can see where others may have different experiences considering the number of misprints associated with the USA and Canada pressings, but I have no complaints - especially considering the price. I don't foresee mislabeling 33 1/3 as a 45 as an inflation driver for this item - especially when you have a red vinyl version in the wrong jacket to compete with - but you never know. I recommend giving this one a try while it's cheap, giving it a good listen, and holding out to see if the European pressings indeed sound better. If they do, I want one. -
Is there any signs on cover to know if this record is black or red version without opening the shrink?
-
The red Infestissumam and the black pressing of this both sound awful. The culprit: URP. Really starting to hate records that are pressed there. I'm gonna have to import the EU pressings of these. Surely they sound better (even Infestissumam with its hideous compression and distortion).

My copy came with a small ment for Infestissumam, but it was misspelled Infestissum. Anyone else have this misprint?
