this pressing accentuates the brutal dynamics and ups & downs of larks, paying absolute perfect justice to this gorgeous album. it is distorted at times because of the loudness of the mix yet the vinyl allows you to enjoy every bit of the soundscape as it was intended, nothing more than a perfect press with high quality packaging and a tastefully low price

This pressing is bloody great and blows my Island 2nd pressing out of the water (I gave that copy away). Dynamics are incredible and, once cranked (you really need to up the volume to get the full effect) you’ll have enough dynamic range to keep you more than happy.
This is what a good record sound like. People will disagree and have you searching for early or specific pressings - but there’s no need. Do something more fun instead. Go for a walk. Fuss a dog. You get the idea. -
Great pressing. Very happy with the overall production. Very quiet between tracks and in low age areas. Great dynamics with no shrill, good punch in the drums and bass. Nice clarity. Very satisfying listen. The only thing I might question is the 200 gram? But not an issue as it makes little difference to me.

This is a solid pressing. I have the original UK 1973 Island pressing which is amazing, but this one is also solid to my ears. Someone in the comments completely bashed the pressing which I disagree with. Maybe it’s not better than the 73 island one, however to my ears it’s still a decent pressing and I don’t think Fripp would ever allow something of low quality to be released.

It sounds great to me. I have an original EG that's unfortunately quite scuffed up, and this is one of those records you wanna hear as close to flawless as possible - there are a lot of quiet sections
maybe it's just me but I think there's less dynamic range than the original - which is GOOD - the original copy had me reaching for the volume knob all the time -
Edited 2 years agoA serious piece of work from King Crimson. Plenty of light and heavy textures, classically inspired violin, Frippy noises to satisfy the guitar fan, and some great drum pounding by Sir Bruford.
Really excellent execution and overall great sounding mix.
This reissue is nicely produced, super clean and quiet vinyl, excellent sleeve and graphics, and audio sounds reasonable. Dynamics a little squashed perhaps and tape hiss evident, esp side B.
An OG pressing would be ideal, but I'd need it VG+ to avoid crackles and surface noise during the quietest ages herein. Otherwise, grab a new reissue and call it good.

Edited 5 years agoOfficial reissue by Robert Fripp (if I make no mistake). One of the worst reissue ever. I don't think it was sourced from the original master tapes but probably from a third or fourth generation tape or rather from a CD. Absolutely dry, no harmonics at all, no soundstage, no dynamics, quite lifeless. Avoid absolutely this version and buy an original Island pressing or an EG version or a Japanese incarnation

For those looking to get the best version of King Crimsons catalog on vinyl I recommend reading my review of the 1972 - 1974 box:

Another thumbs up from me. Very dynamic recording and this reissue captures it perfectly. For people who run away from digital masters cut to vinyl, try this one on for size.

Fantastic silent pressing, outstanding sound quality.
My only gripe is the edge of the vinyl is very sharp and mine arrived with top and spine seam splits.
A 200g piece of vinyl with sharp edges sliding around inside a jacket is not good.
