it was like seeing jesus! when i discovered the box at my local shopping centre giftshop for nearly nothing. i am a proud owner as it was my favourite compilation from the classic mp3 era. all my favourite producers with their top notch material. brand new funk, autumn, funktion all my favourite tracks but now is the time by ray keith must be one of the most massive dnb tracks of all time. just pure respect for the bristol crew

Wicked comp from V recs here at a time when the music was just starting to see the light again after a very cold & dark period. It kicks of with Adam F's monumental Brand New Funk, with it's Grandmaster Flash sampling funk laden intro. If ever there was a best set opener / closer track then this surely must be up there. Next up is Die's funking fantastic autumn, which is actually a slice of summertime sweetness with it's beautiful guitar loop intro & it's heads down on the dancefloor stepping break & Bristol bass stabs throughout, deffo in my d & b all time top 10, track 3x see's the men of that moment, Ed Rush & Opticals Funktion remix, a classic in their unique style, track 6 is where it starts again with Peshay's amazon which is a total Ed & Op style tune, unlike the jazz tinged stuff he was known for at the time, Kamanchi's stay is a bass driven monster, track 9 sees the Ram Trilogy remix of Krust's warhead, well you all know the damage that one does, finally disc one finishes with an absolute stormer from Roni Size. Over to disc 2 & we start with another monster of a tune from Die with the bass warping slide away showing why he is the Don of the Bristol 4, next up are Ed & Op with another bomb in the shape of Shrinkwrap, the title says it all!, 4 sees another Peshay tune in the same vein as amazon, 6 sees a funky little Suv track with some nice vocals over a Bristol stepper, 7 sees Mr Size do damage with Strictly Social, a tune in the Autumn vein battered by Grooverider back then, Suv then remixes Brand New Funk in his own style, it took me ages to like this track but it is actually very good but not that the original needed remixing though imo, then we finish with Scorpio (Roni & Die) who smash the dance with Ali Ba Ba, a dope dragon style banger that is simple but effective. A great CD from a consistent label well worth adding to your collection. Great packaging as well.

There are two versions of this compilation, the tracks are identical but one version comes in a hard box with each of its 8 X 12"'s in V recordings sleeve's. The other is a simple soft box version containing only generic black paper sleeves, I picked this version up for less than a score.
