Edited 4 years agoAnother one of Carly Simon's dance tunes worth seeking out is "Tranquillo (Melt My Heart)" - not nearly as popular as "Why?" and obviously totally different production but still a stunner
-
I once bawled my eyes out to this song at an after-party, sitting on a living room carpet at one o'clock in the afternoon with the sun creeping through the curtains after a bottle of wine and far too many chemicals. I was completely inconsolable for a good five minutes. And you know what? I wasn't even upset about anything. I'd simply been floored by the painful mellow beauty of this song. The Chic boys made some absolute heart-stoppers in their time, and the 12" cut of Why is right up there with the very best of them.

Great song, terrific vibe. Massively sampled in a few of the 12" remixes of A Tribe Called Quest's "Bonita Applebum" in 1990.
