RIP, so young, hard to overstate how much this album meant to me as a teenager, has some really great tracks.

Edited one year agoBack in the early to mid 80s there were few UK Rap groups, none of which could match the talent found in America. There were a couple of classic Electro instrumentals from Malcolm Mclaren 'Buffalo Gals' & Newtrament, but regarding the early British rappers (not counting Dancehall Deejays) the ones i know were featured on UK Electro (The Rapologists, Broken Glass), Family Quest, Faze 1, Derek B, Cookie Crew, MC Duke & Overlord X. His overall output may not have been the strongest or hardcore, quite commercial & sounding very dated today. But he was one of the most successful from that period next to the Cookie Crew & helped pave the way for others to come working for Music Of Life & as a dj, such as Silver Bullet, London Posse, Demon Boyz, Hijack, Gunshot, etc. Where even during the Britcore days of the early 90s, UK Rap was always considered 2nd rate to the big American acts amongst most Hip Hop fans, something that didn't really change until the emergence of Grime, which primarily emerged from hype MC's coming out of the UKG & DnB scenes rather than traditional Hip Hop.

From the times when - how did Idris Elba say in an interview recently - it was cool for UK Rappers to rap in American English. Only good tune is Bad Boy Brother for me or with some downside Good Groove. That's about it, though I own both album and maxi single.
