I think Autopsy might well be the best death metal band there is, and this album is not a disappointment.
As for the style and sound, the one especially good pick from the boiling flesh pot are the vocals. Reifert does a good job, nice diversity in the vocal style also. His style goes from a delirious serial killer to Venom's Cronos dropped to a vat of cocaine to a barking rabid dog! Coffin crawlers, coffin crawYÄÄÄ... Oh yes. And on She Is A Funeral the modulation effect used on the vocals makes it so damn sick...
I'm usually pretty allergic to the use of crash cymbal as the main cymbal of a drum pattern, but here even that's not a problem for me.
What's notable is that there's diversity in the songs: nice slashing, more melodic parts, even epic parts, more punkish slabs... This album is not boring for one second.
To my taste, only one song, Running From The Goathead, isn't that good, but that's not bad either, just worse than the rest. All the others are good or great, often excellent. My favourite is probably She Is A Funeral, what a great one.
All in all, all the reunion stuff I've heard from Autopsy is great, so I'm really glad that there was a reunion.
