The matrix on my copy is D32Y-3022 11 +++++
Not only does it have the version of "Can't Stand Losing You" that uses the vinyl rip, but the beginning of "Next to You" is cut off so it's missing the first drum beat. It's a shame, I got this CD because i heard it fixed errors, not introduce more :/ I guess if you're looking for this CD, watch out for an 11 in the matrix, you probably want a 21 instead. -
Edited 2 years agoApparently this and Outlandos D'Amour = アウトランドス・ダムール are the only CD releases that have Can't Stand Losing You taken entirely from a proper master, with all other versions using a vinyl source for the first 40 seconds of the song. From https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/the-police-on-cd.63798/page-58#post-22656196 :
My assumption is the UK corrected whatever mistake there was on the master of "Can't Stand Losing You" by editing in a needledrop of the first 40 seconds.
Japan used the short edit (which has no problems) up till 2'05" and then edited on the last 45/50 seconds or so from the master tape (or digital copy of it!)
The assumption is that D32Y was issued on CD after "Every Breath You Take (The Singles)".
