Edited 5 years agoAs far as I'm concerned it's all about the "Why Don't You Try This Side" Mix. Closer in mood to Out Of The Ordinary's earlier classic 'The Dream' from 1988 regarding the style of production. I'm not really a fan of the mash-up, over the top sample-vocal-fest, rather cheesy, commercial sounding main track. If I want to listen to Los Niños Del Parque, I can opt for the far superior original, very influential and well before its time, cult-classic Liaisons Dangereuses record in its unaltered entirety.
The ''Why Don't You Try This Side Mix'' was one of the defining late 1980s warehouse classics in the UK. Moody, hypnotic, ethereal, mysterious, trippy. And what an intro.
For those searching for the above mix and need the original, extended, unedited version. Do not opt for the UK issues on Supreme Records. Not only was it cut short / edited, but the mastering doesn't sound as full or dynamic as the German issues, in my opinion. Go for the ZYX Records, Abfahrt pressings.
Oh, and try blending it with the earlier The Dream (Acid Mix) or Paul Rutherford - Get Real :-) -
