Great album. Really takes house somewhere else. This opened up a world of techno to me back in 2000 when I bought the CD which has different track listing than the vinyl which I also have.

With "Unreasonable behaviour", Laurent Garnier reached the peak of his highly prolific recording career. Despite the fact that by Y2K he had already produced an envious amount of all time classics, in my book he will go down in history with the best of them for delivering this magnum opus.
Be it one of his greatest calling cards, the jazzy and soulful The Man With The Red Face, the moody, melancholic, deeply emotional City Sphere and Communications From The Lab, with its heart tearing piano stabs, or maybe the stuff dance floor material is made up of, with Dangerous Drive and The Sound Of The Big Babou, or perhaps my favorite track here, Greed, haunted by a deep and menacing vocal sample and an entire series of crispy sounds and musical elements!
To make things even better, he ends the album with a track called Last Tribute From The 20th Century, which is a direct and honest tribute to the heroes and forefathers of the techno movement. Humble, magnificent, diverse, experimental, yet true to the form while refusing to stay confined within any apparent limits determined by genres or styles, "Unreasonable behaviour" is a work of a man who has been around the block quite a few times. Garnier knows the game, and he shows that he's a true architect of electronic music, not a follower. Timeless material. -
Edited 19 years agoMust have album for people who have an open minde and feel at home with different house and techno styles. Some of the tracks on this cd would blend in very nicely with Funk D'Void or St. Germain tracks. My favorite would be city sphere, a very ambient track which creates a good sphere. Definetely Laurent Garnier has a very open mind as a DJ as well as a producer. very good!

Agree with Prophet, with this album Garnier proves he's a true genius. "Communications from the lab" is also my greatest highlight of al the highlights on this album. Unreasonable Behaviour can be added to the list of best electronic music albums ever!!
-
A brilliant album from mr Garnier. Combines jazzy elements with house andchno. A real album aswell, not just a few great tracks and some fillers, but a cd full of beautifull and varied soul music. Hiighlight for me is the dark and twisted yet deep soul track "communications from the lab".
