Great underrated song by Madonna from the "Like a Prayer" album. A3 Keep It Together (12" Extended Mix) is the one for me here..Shep kept the original tracks and simply did a tasteful extended remix. Moffet's drumming on this is so funky.
The Soul II Soul-ish drum machine reworkings never did it for me though....(I love drum machines, btw) -
Reviewing every record in my collection
The sound quality is great, as I've come to expect from every Madonna Maxi-Single so far. Sadly, the content for me it's just... Meh? I mean, the Like a Prayer era has a lot of great mixes, especially the title track (every single remix is amazing) but here I just feel like I'm Listening to the same remix over and over again. If you wanna listen to this EP, just listen the 12" mix and the 12" extended remix and you've basically listened to all the other remixes. Plus it samples random parts from previous Madonna songs such as True Blue and Into the Groove which to me it's just a little bit random and I certainly don't like it. I bought this maxi single two years ago and I've listened to it today for the first time since I knew I wasn't going to like the remixes based on the B-side of Vogue, which comes with a remix of it.
If I had to say one cool feature of this Maxi is that the Instrumental is kind of cool(? It does a similar thing to the La Isla Bonita instrumental which remixes the 12" mix instead of just being a plain white instrumental of the original song -
One of my favorite Madonna songs. The "Keep It Together (Instrumental)" on the B-Side is worth the purchase alone. The horns on that sucker, wow!
