Found this in the used section. Had no idea the pressing would sound this good. Better than most of my records in fact. Zero surface noise and it’s just a fuller sound. Pick this up if you can.

Edited 5 months agoa great pressing, no flaws . beautiful gatefold and liner notes as well; essential for this album imo .
d' picked up multi-instrumental knowledge and talanted neo-soul musicians (questlove, roy hargrove, james poyser, pino palladino, dj premier, dilla etc.) and ditched commercial rnb production to revolutionize and prove how organic music could sound to a new generation of listeners .
lush, live studio-session music that is both minimal and full in every aspect is alive and heard on every track here- they all differ but unite. Raw emotion & soul indicates he unapologetically is a product of his influences (al green, prince, stevie, dilla himself, etc.) by keeping their past energy and elements alive to create his own true individual sound unheard of. studying great works indeed produces wonders. no doubt he will in turn keep the influential flame alive for artists down the line.
Aside from "How Does it Feel" every single other track is often overlooked but are truly equal in greatness, intent and execution .
front to back this work is elegant, elemental and classic. barriers and notions to genres and listener demographics are broken. if life's precious time should be spent listening to music, this album reigns priority. vibe after vibe, transcendent, soul soothing, head knocking material.. a breath of fresh air through sound. immerse yo self~ ill shit . ॐ -
Edited 3 years agoExcellent pressing. Bought sealed in 2012, played to death, and still quiet, flat, and dynamic.

I’ve had this pressing for a while. I’m listening to it right now. I can’t find any fault with the pressing or packaging. Great sounding pressing IMO.

Typical Light in the Attic/Rainbo junk. Two sides are off-center and side one has some weird damage along the rim that I pretty much have to set the needle down at the start of the song. For a company that likes to promote itself as being a purveyor of quality items, LITA sure does have a lot of off-center product.

a great sounding repress. only difference from the original i can hear is that the outro groove of "One Mo' Gin" is kept as the outro and therefor still at the end of Side B, whereas on the original it's put at the beginning of "The Root" on Side C, which I actually think makes for a smoother transition, even though you could argue it's not technically correct. a small detail, but something that was considered for the vinyl in 2000 and not this time around.
