On their own, this isn't a bad set. It's just that compared with originals (even original US copies) the box set doesn't hold up. My box also had quite a few records with smudges, fingerprints, no-fill and heavy dust (all typical GZ complaints). If you're getting it just to have the albums covered, it's fine after a cleaning, for the most part. Looking for really good sound? Seek out original UK or (even) US copies. The original Who's Next is especially a revelation. What The Who should sound like IMO.

Has anybody else, like me, the tracklisting of Tommy's face one misplaced on the label of A quick one's face one. The pressed songs are right.

Edited 8 years agoI want to meet the person that purchased this for $33 and congratulate him face to face....deal of a lifetime...oh,wait...it was just the empty box. Please remove this from the sales history. Some of us like to actually know the realistic value of our collection.

Edited 10 years agoSuperb set. The inclusion of the original mix of Rael after only hearing the extended Sell Out version is jarring, but all sounds great, so not a huge deal.
-
this lp box set was issued at the end of 2012 and it was specially remastered for vinyl sorry. i cannot confirm if it is the john astley mixes as the sound on these turned out great, the mixes are almost the same as the original lps but in my case NOTHING ever topped the original releases from so so long ago, i honestly felt i wasted a bit of my money buying this when it came out as if you have the german phases box set from 1980 i would reccomend that one over this one, ive been a who fan for 37 years now and honestly but sadly endless wire does not count for me as it was awful, anyway the lps are perfectly replicated here and you get the basic great stuff on vinyl but still for a box set like this for the price we should have got a lot more i feel, also my complaint with this is also the box barely fits all the records so the record sleeves are packed in the box rather tight, i wish they gave us about another 2 inches of room in the box then at least the box would be perfect, still this is a great release even though im complaining here a bit, i guess my real problem with this box set was we should have got at least 2 lps worth of gems here and not just the standard who albums in one big box AGAIN...............
-
can anyone confirm whether these are based on remastered original mixes or the newer jon astley mixes?
