Overall my copy sounds pretty good, especially the final three tracks (Exogenesis Symphony) which sounds fantastic on this pressing.

I just got this record in the mail today. I decided to buy this album on vinyl despite already owning a digital copy because I enjoyed Muse's music so much. I love Matt's guitar tones, and I have really fallen in love with the band's sound. They are incredibly talented musicians, and I personally look up to each of them on that level. "The Resistance" is an epic album! Songs like "Uprising," and "Guiding Light" are why I love this band. They sound absolutely massive, and will excite anyone that gets to hear them.
That's the music. Now for the record. This vinyl release is okay. Just okay. It kind of sounds a little bright. It's not awful, but the whole record sounds a little too trebley. I found this problem to be more noticeable at high volumes. I am however able to tame the harshness with the treble control on my amplifier. It's too bad to find an album with this level of awesomeness on vinyl that doesn't sound quite like vinyl (think analog and warm). If I didn't see my platter spinning, I would not assume this was a vinyl record being played. I hope your amplifier has a nice equalisation section onboard.
Digging deeper you begin to realize the positives of the record here. Compared to the AAC files that I had previously been listening to this record did have a better sense of dynamics. It is not an obvious benefit, but the discerning listener will notice. I didn't think much of it at first. Honestly I kind of doubted my ears. However, as I began to listen to the last side the dynamic range benefits were much more obvious. A little digging on the DR database provided evidence to my experience. You can find those numbers here. http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/91585
The packaging is a standard gatefold affair with two very filmy monochromatic photos of the band inside. Two lyric sheets are included. These look pretty neat, and follow the album's artwork well. Each of the records are standard black.
This record review was conducted with my stock Pro-ject Debut Carbon, Yamaha A-S301, and Music Hall Marimba loudspeakers.
