Not favorite Dire Straits album as a whole but dang Side A is hard to beat with the 1-2 punch of the first two cuts. But even at their lowest ranked it beats most best! My pressing sounds great per usual with my Dire Straits’ albums. Highly recommended!

These first early pressings of dire straits are so dynamic and punchy…..they are in my opinion more alive than the MOFIs…wish I I realised this before buying them all 🤣

I bought this pressing in NM condition and it’s simply the best I’ve heard this album. Period.

This is a great album. It’s a departure from the earlier stuff but then again two years on in 1982 Love Over Gold was like nothing else they did. The original pressings are the best. No point in wasting money on modern compressed poor quality pressings.

In my opinion (and from my experience) this is the best sounding original vinyl version of this album ( not taking into the "audiofile" editions, like latest Mofi).
Deep, smooth and in the same time clear and dynamic sound. Compared for example with this German edition: https://www.discogs.sitioby.com/release/9162260-Dire-Straits-Making-Movies).
And by the way - I think Dire Straits had no weak albums - and this one is no exception.

Dire Straits its one of my favorite bands, but this album its the weakest of his discography. Still enjoyable, anyway.

Whatever you think of Dire Straits, this is without doubt one of the best sounding records I own.

I have a rather unique south African pressing which has a blue cover and the words Making Movies are on a pink strip in black. Can't find this anywhere on the site.

Can someone help please? I have an edition with matrix
                      6359034 1Y // 2 ▽ E420 17 1 2
                      6359034 2Y // 3 ▽ E420 1 4 3
and golden eight pointed star in square (2,5x2,5 cm) on back cover. I cant find any information about it.
