Edited 11 years agoI've played it several times and, again, just unearthed, still find could have been shorter (and, thus, better).
Just keep the first 5 tunes then delete what remains ... and u get that perfect ep instead.
Oh "Elysium" oh yes an highlight !!!
Artwork is also great, with a direct yet subtle hook ... -
Edited 14 years agoIt's rare to find high quality chill-out, but that makes the search so much more worthwhile and rewarding. This album is one of those hard-to-find gems, it's a dark, dubby journey through subconscious space. What I really like about this album in particular is how deeply layered it is, it's one of those albums you can listen to over and over again and be blown away because you constantly find new things.
It's quite apparent Rain put a lot of effort into this album, it's an incredibly beautiful and surprisingly mature release... I think he's long overdue for a second release; but then again, you can't force quality. Good music is yielding, it doesn't try to paint an image in your mind, but rather lets you be the brush and the canvas and the various colors. It takes you along for the ride through the sonic imagery as you become one with your perception.
All of these songs are oozing with dubby yet melodic, electronic yet tribal, qualities that are constantly changing. This album feels like it has progression and cohesion, the flow is very well paced and none of the songs feels like they're drawn out for length. I especially like Elysium and Ritual, but all of the songs on the album are incredible - this is definitely worth a check out if you like listening to dub while you're laying down. Sometimes music can be a good guide, and it's nice to have that groovy vibe there - even if it can be overwhelming and sometimes frightening (as in Darkness) but don't worry, because when the beautiful parts of the song hit, (the ending of Elysium = incredible) they make it that much better. Worth a listen for anyone who has functional ears. -
I find it hard to be able to compare this album to anything else out there. Tribal, Trance, Downtempo and Ambient all swirl together to create a unforgettable experience. There are shards of a male voice thrown in from time to time but the female voice, Alyssa, is the real treat vocal-wise on Sub Conscious. Phutureprimitive AKA Rain AKA Telepathik releases new music pretty rarely but when he does its always dripping with quality. This is the type of CD that one could never grow tired of and the only shame is the fact that its a rather unknown release on a even more unknown label.

Edited 19 years agoRainy day music that reminds me of rainforests.
I've been enjoying this album for a good time now and it's one of my favourite psychill albums. It's not the typical stale sound, but a very tribal and alive one. The melodies are good and a bit on the melancholic side, the female vocals added are not the usual ones sampled in every other psychill release, but original and very fitting to the mood of the album.
Highly recommended for fans of good psychedelic chillout music.

Edited 19 years agoThis has got to be the best album i've picked up in a really long time. The genre is best described as Psychill... which you could break down into elements of dub, tribal and trance.
I can best describe this album's mood and theme as maybe being in the jungle. Most of the track titles and sounds your hear throughout the songs will remind you of the location. Female vocals are used throughout the music to help give that cinematic feeling.
If you're a fan of psychill - then you will definitley want to pick this one up.
