Edited 9 years agoThis was my favorite childhood album. It's actually an ambient/hard rock theme that works really well together. Looking back, I'm surprised Trent pulled it off as well as he did. Or maybe I'm biased because it's from my childhood. Ambient hard rock would actually be a fun theme if Trent had continued it.

The tracklist is incorrect and I don't know how to fix it.
"Self Destruction, Part Three" and "Self Destruction, Final" remixed by J. G. Thirlwell AKA Foetus
"The Downward Spiral (The Bottom)" and "Eraser (Denial; Realization)" and "Eraser (Polite)" and "Erased, Over, Out" remixed by Coil (4 tracks!)
"Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now)" remixed by Rick Rubin -
I guess theres no vinyl release of this because its considered an ep(in reznors eyes) and if released on vinyl it'd obviously have to be 2 discs due to the track lengths which is unconventional for "eps"? but who cares i'd LOVE this on vinyl one day soon!! At least the aphex tracks which are some of his best!

Something worth noting concerning this release. 'At the Heart of it all' and the second part of 'Beauty of Being Numb' are both original compositions by Aphex Twin and not remixes of original NIN tracks.

A remix album almost as good as the original. It takes The Downward Spiral further into a nightmarish sound adventure. Most of the remixes shine better than the originals and some tracks like "At the Heart of it All" and "The Beauty of Being Numb" sound like completely new tracks. The remixes of Piggy and Hurt both received air play and pushed this to be one the best selling remixes albums ever. This is great to lay in bed to with headphone while the lights are out. Check out the UK version, which in more dance oriented. 5/5

Edited 18 years agoFast forwarding the last track (Erased, Over, Out) on your stereo you will hear the "slowed down" Trent Reznor voice say; "You waste life, you waste life..." over and over until the track ends.
