Notes
Test pressing on white label for this release. A highly limited run of only TEN of these were produced in order to test the sound quality of the pressing (which was found to have plates off center - and the pressing plant refused to fix since it was going to be a small run LP). These test pressings were manually numbered and marked with "R.G #001" (R.G stands for Reel George) on the white labels. The sleeve/jacket is the same as the regular 'marbled green' version. If you see more than ten of these in people's collections, then there are some that are not test pressings of the genuine release. Check your matrix.

Back in August of 1996, I was ed by KPNT's program director, Alex Luke, to come up with a unique LP / CD package for a limited edition release in conjunction with Vintage Vinyl Records.
I was provided with a raw recording of Pearl Jam at Soldier Field, and told to come up with to different packages for the release. A double CD, and a double LP. The band was interested in the vinyl being an 'all out' package including color cover, color vinyl, and a bonus poster too. I did the design work on all of these items including creating the photo in the inner spread. I made the posters first taking the cartoon images of the band from a Pearl Jam t-shirt that was then available. The poster was typeset by a poster company and then we scanned the finished poster. This gave it a more real look than creating it in the computer.
To make sure that this pressing plant was doing everything up to snuff, some 10 sets of test pressings were made. These were on black vinyl and were numbered (Reel George) RG–001, sides A, B, C, and D. They have blank labels The jackets bear the number VV 000001. The pressings were a bit off center and Bill Smith Custom Records refused to fix the issue. That's customer service !
The released records are a sickly green - that came out looking like toothpaste. The vinyl was supposed to be clear with a white marbling in it - to emulate a mother of pearl type color - but the idiots at the pressing plant used coke-bottle green (instead of clear) and mixed instead of marbling it. Oh well. Subsequently, it's been bootleged (not reissued - all other pressings are unauthorized) and has come out in a variety of colors. Always look for that toothpaste green. Only 500 of both the CD and 500 of the LP were made and given away on a single day in St. Louis at Vintage Vinyl, who then stiffed me on the final payment for the project. This was one of several 'authorized bootlegs' that the band did, and the only one I can recall existing on vinyl. All others seem to be CDs with other radio stations around the same time.
