Mi funk , mi jazz !
ça aurait pu être un super album, sauf que Jan Hammer gâche d'entrée le titre Quadrant avec ses claviers qu'il manie comme une sulfateuse. un débit de notes inable , sans swing, sans lyrisme , vraiment barbant. Tommy Bolin n'a pas le jeu de guitare qui convient ,il joue rock et de façon banale . John Tropea qui fait une timide apparition sur 2 titres aurait été préférable tout au long de l'enregistrement car il possède un jeu jazzy d'une fluidité remarquable . Cela dit quand Hammer sait se contenir , cela peut donner de belles choses ici ou là , comme Searching for the right door , le sommet de l'album sublimé par la flûte de Joe Farrell. Il faut dire aussi que Billy Cobham est un fantastique batteur qui sait faire varier son jeu à l'aide d'une palette de nuances incroyables, fin , puissant et léger à la fois même si (album solo oblige) la batterie est un peu trop mise en avant sur l'enregistrement. Ah oui j'allais oublier ! La qualité de son de ce remastering est excellente !
