I have to disagree with the prior reviewer that this original UK stereo is as poorly recorded as noted. I, too, have the Sundazed mono (which I love) and the MoFI 45s and SACD. I will have to do a shootout but I can’t having this positive an impression about the general sound quality with the MOFIs as I do with this original. The instrument separation is much better than I imagined if not perfect. Yes, the low end is there but not overly such that it detracts from the overall sound quality. It does have a grungy type feel which I am sure was intended but not muddy to the point of detracting from the presentation. I think they got the recording more right than wrong for the type music that was being presented. Time to do a shoot out. I think this one is a keeper and like it substantially more than the original US. Finding clean copies is a challenge particularly for US originals. I’d stick to the UK.

I’ve got the Sundazed mono and this is such a low cut (as in too low!) congested album. Really a shitty original recording unfortunately and nothing will really save it. Tried to compensate with massive volume boost and just not incredible in any way. I’m going to test against my early pressing but I not liking that as well. I’ve not heard the MoFi.

Edited 2 years agoI hadn't realized how similar this is to the contemporary Led Zep one... very similar ideas and playing. Same studio? I know Page co-wrote Beck's Bolero... both cover You Shook Me, too.

Edited 2 years agoIf I could have just 1 rock album this is probably the one. All of it is great, bluesy, and especially, playing right now, "Beck's Bolero" is an untouchable masterpiece. R.I.P. and thanks for all the top music!!

I can't find any info on my copy, on Pioneer records PRC-5014, could be Chinese or Taiwanese, and on the label Record is misspelled (Recor).

JUST A NOTE SAW THEM AT THE FILMORE EAST THAT WINTER. LATE SHOW , FRIDAY NIGHT. ONE OF THE GREATEST CONCERTS I EVER ATTENDED. ROD STEWART IN A PATTEN PINK LEATHER JACKET AND A SCARF. BECK IN A T SHIRT, JEANS AND SNEAKERS.....WHAT A GREAT BAND..........EVERY SONG HAD MY TOTAL ATTENTION.
SOME MOMENTS AND EVENTS STAY WITH YOU............I AM LISTENING TO THE EXPANDED CD AND FEEL 19.
Peace -
Should this be considered produced by the Jeff Beck Group (and listed as such on Discogs), and not just Jeff Beck?
