'Crystal' contains vocal samples by 'Colonel Kurtz' from the movie Apocalypse Now, 1979.

      A Techstep classic!

Another nasty tech-step monster from the No U-Turn camp here, this time from Fierce & Nico. 'Input' is an under-the-radar growler of a tune with stepping breaks and the obligatory reece bass blasts. 'Crystal' on the flipside is the real star on this release in my opinion. Opening with a euphoric, soaring synth and a driving breakbeat. The track launches into a vocal sample exclaiming 'pink crystal' (from a movie it sounds?) and thunders on teasingly up until 4.44 minutes where a twisting, abrasive reece stab assaults your ears. 'Crytal' is one of those tracks which despite not featuring a lot of variation, builds on it's hypnotic vibe to lull you into a false sense of security when the nastiness crops up on you.

1996 really was THE year for darkside experimentation.
