Dusty! Low gain! Not loud at all! You have to crank up the volume to hear some music, side effects … lots of noise on B side, even after cleaning avoid.
-
Great sounding pressing. Mine was very dusty and had some gum residue on the edge which is coming off after cleaning.
Make sure to add a bit of pre gain. Master isn’t super hot which isn’t a bad thing at all! -
Edited one year agoListened to whole album quite carefully today and it sounds great to me. It’s not too low, I did crank the treble a bit to make it pop a bit more, but overall I think this is a good pressing. It is a bit pricey however

Edited one year agoMy copy was clean as a whistle and flat as a pancake. Did not even wash the record before playing. Only swiped it with a carbon brush.
It had paper with poly-lined inners and they had cut the edges of the record so flat that I was wondering if they had used mould injection technology like The Green Vinyl Records project.
As mentioned in comments before me the volume level is pretty low, but I have no problems with pops and clicks so I can turn up the volume to compensate. -
Edited one year agoI got Mine, and i have no issues with it, Sounds great. no surface noise ! And that's a great album been looking for reissue since a long time.

Edited one year agoYou've got to clean these very thoroughly, beyond the visible paper debris--there is gunk in the grooves. Once you get that out, the sound is great.

Edited one year agoAmazing album with a crazy lineup…but third man continues with releasing poor quality pressings. So disappointing as I was hoping that they could get this one right.
Overall level is very low, so you will need to turn it up.. clicks n pops galore. Putting ‘audiophile’ on the hype sticker is a bit silly when you can’t even press the records properly.
They messed up the blue note 313 series and the verve by request. Only record I own that was worth it was the Alice Coltrane. -
Edited one year agoReading the reviews so far i have to say for this kinda money I'm gonna stay with my original CD. This seminal album (and tbf most of the verve by request series) deserve better audiophile treatment for the money they're asking. I would go further but seeing as I've only bought the Ptah LP from this series so far I'll stop there.

Edited one year agoVolume is low, kinda muffled on the high end. My copy had rough uneven edges the can cut you if you’re not careful. I will return my copy. Third Man
Press has quality control issues -
Edited one year agoGood quality overall though not totally silent. The one thing that really surprised me is that the volume is very low. I first thought there was a problem with my system but testing a few other LPs didn't reproduce the issue so it does seem to come from this record. I basically need to turn the sound 2x higher to get the same sound level. First time it happens to me, not a big problem but unexpected for sure.
