The quadraphonic mix on this one is a little gimmicky. Instruments moving around. I did like Ozzy's Iron Man intro coming from the rear speakers like it is sneaking up on you. It is a fun addition to have and the stereo mix sounded as good as this album has sounded on any format I have had. Well worth picking up.

Is it just me or is the bass overpowering in the stereo mix? I can't comment on the quad mix as I don't have a surround sound system. I bought the Red Octopus disc from Quadio as well and the bass was definitely way too much. I'm starting to think these Quadio reissues aren't very good, at least for Stereo.

Edited one year agoDoesn't play on my Xbox series X. Never had an issue with any Bluray before. Anyone else have an issue?

Amazing! Quad mix sounds great to spread out this classic album. Haven't listened to the stereo track in hi-res but I imagine it'll reflect my other copies I own.

Edited one year agoDoes anyone which source the stereo mix is from? Is it derived from the 1973 quadraphonic master? E.g. left channel downmixed from channel 1 and 3, and right channel downmixed from channel 2 and 4. I hope not... (Same question applies to all Rhino Quadio series I guess.)

Edited one year agoSound quality is as good as it can get for this album. While recorded well it has very high tape hiss. The quad mix is interesting however the album has very little to offer for 4.0 and is more of a gimmick than a true 5.1 experience that more complicated music has to offer. Good yes, something you must hear to believe, no it will not blow your mind.
The stereo track is very high quality reproducing what was recorded at the time. I compared it to a 71 LP pressing and sounds very good and I can hear more of the reverb in the mix, my LP might be a little warn as its over 5o years old but still in great shape. The stereo track really sounds no better than a good CD release, high bit rates will not sound better than a well mastered CD version. But its still nice to have for the right price if you are a fan of this LP. -
The Blu-ray is protected. In the quadraphonic mix, Osbourne's voice is mixed weak. It is almost like a karaoke mix.🎤

Edited one year agoNot just the surround mix a total knock-out! But the sound quality is quite impressive here as well.

Very awesome quad mix! Truly enjoyable way to listen to this classic album!! It would be killer to be able to listen to all the Black Sabbath albums mixed this way, or the first eight at the very least!
