Brodequin – Methods Of Execution

Brodequin became one of the household names among the brutal of the early 00s. In their intention to create the most uncompromisingly cruel music, they won a lot of ovations from aesthetes of cultural barbarity. After that, there was an almost twenty year hiatus, during which the band was not only not forgotten, but even awarded several vinyl reissues.

To be honest, the Methods Of Execution reissue sounds pretty ordinary. If we compare it with the first CD press, then this vinyl loses to it. By and large, no special work has been done with sound for vinyl (or this information is very carefully hidden from public sources), but it feels like they just used a CD master, how else to explain the dull sound and high compression. Obviously, this album was recorded in far from ideal conditions and the nature of the music is such that it should sound traumatic. But this vinyl doesn't reveal the album's potential, it turned out too flat, perhaps the only difference is the slightly larger relief of the bass guitar, but you need to strain your ears to catch the nuances. Again, the genre and its aesthetics do not imply a deep analysis of dynamics and other technical features, especially since Brodequin performs such raw material. But there is nothing in this vinyl for which such a media would be needed.

As for the quality of the edition, everything is rather good here. The design contains all the same things that were in the design of the CD, traditionally SoM saved on a protective envelope for vinyl. The vinyl itself weighs 135 grams, is light and plastic, very similar to "eco-vinyl", which is made from recycled plastic (of course, this is not confirmed, but if you have dealt with eco, you will understand what it is about). The sound is without audible defects, there may be a little sand in the pauses, but not critical. The silver color turned out to be rather transparent light gray with a slight galaxy effect, normally, but without the wow effect. It's hard to give an assessment. I think the fair rating here will be between 3 and 4 stars, on the one hand, we have a cult stuff that should have appeared on vinyl sometime, but on the other hand, everything is quite ordinary.
