Edited one month agoWell, The Band has always been a firm favourite of mine, but I have rarely played their records & CDs through all these years, now I have finally come to the conclusion that The Band may be the greatest band ever, they are history as is their music.
Filled some gaps, and this is one LP filling this gap. Like the 2009 US "The Band" which sounds almost exactly like the original Ludwig cut, even quite a bit better (any good remaster should sound like a first pressing, just IMHO) this one sounds natural, bass-heavy and still has killer dynamics and Instrument seperation. The artwork is nicely replicated without any annoying barcode printed on the cover.
And if you own a copy of this series you'll soon recognize it ain't a much weaker album than their second and it sits proud next to "Music From Big Pink". Cahoots is near in quality given the Ron McMaster treatment, this one is one of the three greats, and I would not rank these in any way any more. Just serious "The Band" stuff, great Ssongs mastered and pressed the way I like it.
