Hi all,
I saw some beautiful and expensive Mint sealed copies listed here. Just want to warn you about my story...
A friend of mine picked-up for me a so called "Mint sealed" copy of a Japanese press in Paris () from a store which is listing here and many others "Mint sealed" nice records.
My friend is not a collector/expert and despite the shrink had been opened and the record checked, he didn't see the very light hairlines and spindle marks difficult to see at day light.
The record is more or less NM all around and an insert was missing. It costed me probably twice the price I should have been paying for. It's not bad grading, it's simply robbery.
So, be careful, famous old records still sealed are pretty rare on the market. Only real collectors and very serious stores like some I'm in touch with in Japan and the US can be trusted. And unfortunately more and more robbers like that shop in Paris are re-sealing records to make more money faster. I gave it a try. Too bad for me. A second try is not necessary, just don't buy anything from that guy.

Outstanding pressing. Vocals are crisp with minimal sibilance, superb detail and wide stereo separation. Billie Jean sounds phenomenal with tight, punchy bass and it's hard to believe it could sound much better.

I shot this one out against a standard US (Pitman) press. While the Mastersound is more detailed, the original pressing has more pronounced dynamics. I still wanna give each one more listen through, but right now I think I'm leaning more toward the og press.
-
The reference record is still the Hong Kong pressing. It's a little warmer/more audiophile, a little more deep bass than the Pitman. The Pitman plays a little more forward, but not quite as deep. Nevertheless, both are references, but I very much doubt whether the One Step Pressing can do it!!!

This is a weird one, no doubt it sounds amazing but the volume is quite reduced when compared to the normal mastering of the original American or Japanese pressing. It seems to be a matter of taste if one likes the widened sound stage and more focused bass and treble detail. Billie Jean, Human Nature & The Lady In My Life In My Opinion sound at their best here. The other songs do have little details brought out and given a more 3Desque quality to them but I wouldn’t say they are better here than on a original pressing, especially the title track, the girl is mine and beat it and unforgivable in my opinion is that the drum fill intro to my favourite song on the album, baby be mine doesn’t have the oomph the way it should and does on the original mastering / pressing. I will still have to give this half speed master a 5 star rating because it still does sound excellent and the quality of the vinyl and the jacket is perfect.

By far my favorite pressing of this astounding record. I keep multiple copies on hand! I've compared it to the original US vinyl release, the original Japanese release, and the Japanese Mastersound. This blows them all away, in my opinion.
