Mixed feelings on this one.
Musically I really enjoy it. Clapton’s playing is inspired (not surprising given the Dylan 30th anniversary concert recorded two years earlier has two of my favourite Clapton performances ever) and the tracks are blues classics that will also be familiar from From the Cradle and Unplugged.
Unfortunately I find the mix a little anemic and it sounds more like a soundboard recording to DAT from the period than a multitrack to tape or hi res. Either way, both Unplugged and From the Cradle sound much better to my ears.
My first disc also has a material warp to it.
That said, this was not particularly expensive and is enjoyable, but I would probably have been just as happy with this on a CD or digital file if it were available. -
Great sound, killer set. Clapton playing and singing electric Blues with such intensity and soul that we end up with a very engaging album. Once you drop the needle on Side 1 you can’t stop. -
One of the best live albums I’ve heard in my entire life! A true Blues celebration! An excelent pressing too. The only thing i miss is a better qualitiy cover and a booklet with pictures of the concert. -
Mastered by Grundman/Bellman, lacquer cut by Bellman. Sounds absolutely fabulous, and what a killer set.
