I like it
It’s a covers album, take it or leave it.
I’ll take it, and GEMINI is one sick song.
This kills all thanks to PAUL BOSTAPHs drumming! What a beast🤘🏻 -
If you don't like hardcore, maybe you'll find this Slayer album hard to take.
Reading some of the mainstream reviews makes me wonder if the reviewers even know what hardcore is.
The style is different. The arrangements are different. It's not really a thrash record, and it's not a metal record, though the intense high energy is the same, and there are guitar flourishes that you wouldn't hear on a hardcore record. It's still Slayer.
Personally, I like hardcore. So I like this record.
Slayer made the record they wanted to make. They knew that there was a group in their fan base that was going to really love this, even if it left some fans scratching their heads..
Plenty of other bands have made records covering metal classics and influences. Slayer delivers a covers record that is unexpectedly out of left field.
The only miss for me is "I'm Gonna Be Your God." Your mileage may vary, but sexy Slayer is not my kind of Slayer. And the Stooges should be left loose, and not tightened up. I'd rather have heard something like Deep Wound or even Big Black.
The last tune is an original that mixes in more traditional Slayer. It's a fine way to end the detour. -

Fuck everyone that hates on this album. I bought this shit the day it came out and think this album is amazing. Hard Aggressive just like Slayer should be. They took some amazing old skool punk songs and "Slayerized" them....SICK!!!!!
