Yuck. Just heard that extended Ben LieBrand remix, and it is exactly what I cannot stand. Awful. He adds tinkling piano at the beginning which sounds just ridiculous; then when the vocals start he’s added this group of three horn stabs. As soon as you hear the first one, you know it’s gonna repeat in the same spot over and over again, and sure enough …

Hey, if you can dig it, great. Personally, I think they should have released the full-length demo (Drawingboard) version, which was raw and even more intense in its understatedness. But the LP version and the 12” with the drum kit through the whole song - those two are wonderful mixes, Ben just mucks it up - it’s much worse than his remix of Sting’s Englishman In NY.

    Party on Wayne.

Ben's remix (complete with all the Roland D-50 presets) was a very cool take on the song, making it a bit "danceable" but not losing the essence of the song--especially when the drumkit comes crashing in.

Phil's remix here is basically him just playing an overdubbed back beat onto the body of the song (and original mix)--making this not a remix, but just an overdub on top of the original mix... Why? Just stick with the OG mix in this case.

Side A is missing the magic of the original in my opinion
