I have the original 1987 US pressing but haven't compared the two since this is a remix and updated version. My copy was played once before I bought it, so on my 'first' play through I noticed the bass is too heavy in the mix and gets bloated on some tracks. With that heavy bass, the upper mids were buried and overall sound seemed rolled off in the highs. I've noticed on 'new' vinyl, at least on my turntable, that the sound quality improves with a second and third play through. So I played it through all the way again, and this time cut the bass on my sub by 4db, and Wow, now we're back! Much better balance, immersive sound, and dialed in the way it should sound. Now I'm pleased and delighted with this, a great addition to my PF catalog.

Edited one year agoLook no further. This is the definitive version of this album. Will still keep my 2016 BG remaster as they are almost two different albums in a sense and can enjoy the nuances of both. Vinyl is flat and quiet,
Beautifully pressed unlike the EU version which is abit of a cluster by all s. Great booklet and solid gatefold cover. -
Oh my! Just as others have posted, the packaging is spectacular. So far it is the best looking in my small collection. The sound is beautiful as well. Very powerful and clear. Absolutely flat disc pressing and zero noise. No way you will be disappointed in this pressing and package. The booklet is big and beautiful.

A great LP packaging .The gatefold and booklet paper printing is good quality . Rarely i have a 45 rpm lp album as most of them are 33rpm but i can say I'm satisfied with the sound quality of this mastering . Quite a clean press with minimal surface noise . The lows have a slight edge without compromising on its highs . Quite a underrated PF album if you were to compare with dark side , the wall and animals .

Splendid packaging and excellent press. No clicks or other strange noises on my version. Sturdy and beautiful packaging. My favorites Learning to Fly and Sorrow sounds absolutely gorgeous. As others have commented I am also unsure about the speed, even adjusting it on my player it often felt slightly fast - but I have not done any proper comparisons with other recordings. If someone is worried and like a proper comparison let me know and I might be able to help. Nice booklet as well.

THE PACKAGING IS BEAUTIFUL!!
This may be the nicest jacket in my collection, it’s sturdy and of great material. Two black poly lined sleeves and a huge booklet. -
Over all this is great and i thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. I purchased after reading the reviews here. My only experenced flaw is on Yet another movie as it has 3 clicks at the beginning that do not belong there, but I am not gonna return it over that. This album sounds fantastic, and instrumental. I was never a fan of the original due to the 80s sound of it but this remix has opened my eyes to the album now.
-
i'm obsessed with this remix and this pressing. i never really gave Momentary Lapse it a fair shake because of its reputation. it's like finding a lost pink floyd album. it sounds so friggin good.
-
I agree with some others. After listening to the original since release, I just cannot get used to this. The LPs, sleeve, booklet and everything are amazing. The sound is clear, but speed seems off; no matter what tempo/speed adjustments I make on my AT-LP120XUSB.
This one just isn't for me. I'll stick with the original mix. -
I agree with others, this release sounds incredible. Possibly the best sounding album in my collection. The mix takes some getting to, but I certainly enjoy it and will probably play this as often as the original going forward. I considered not getting this (why do I want a remix??) but am so glad I did.
