Really my only gripe about this record is that the sleeve it came in wasn't poly-lined. Fortunately though, my copy wasn't in its paper sleeve long enough to do any damage before I cleaned it for a play test, and it sounded great! Other than one or two very faint clicks on each side, the surface is really quiet and the mastering is dynamic and a pleasure to listen to. Grateful this record didn't fall victim to the loudness war.

This is the best and most affordable pressing in print today. Don’t let the Walmart association scare you away. It’s really good. I haven’t heard the Bernie Grundman mastering from 2015 and wondered if it was the same. However, the deadwax clearly shows a CB, so I’m assuming this is an all new mastering by Chris Bellman. I returned the MFSL One-Step after spending several days with it because it was so bright (and warped). This sounds more like the original pressing(which I own several), but with quieter vinyl and a wider soundstage.

Edited one year agocannot beat this pressing for the money ! Chris bellman and Bernie grundman cut this. I also own the Kevin gray cut and this 1 is not far behind it at all. The Kevin gray cut does beat it though and the new mo-fi is the new king of this album and beats out the Kevin gray cut from what i hear. I have not heard it yet but Mine is on the way. Still if your not wanting to spend alot of $$$ nothing can beat this pressing for the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very Nice pressing

$15 at Walmart. Yes, please. This sounds pretty darn good. Pretty quiet vinyl and large, dynamic sound.

Edited 2 years agoNot bad at all! Pretty full, good, clear, beefy, dynamic soundstage sound for a low price. Packaging is pretty good with inner sleeve, poster and bonus laminate, but outer jacket is a little flimsy and looks printed on a color copier. Record is nice, thick and sturdy. A good buy!

Great for the price! I have an original 1976 pressing and I also have a 1977 RCA Club Edition. I must say both of my 1970's pressings have a little more detail and also a little more dynamic but this pressing is the best one I've heard that was pressed in the last decade. The 2015 pressing by Bernie Grundman was a real mess. It was mixed way too bright and had a lot of compression. it literally gave me ear ear fatigue. This is not that same master. This one is rich and full with detail and warmth. Get it wile you still can!

This is my first non-digital experience with this album, other than my parents playing the record when I was a kid.
Add this to the list of Walmart exclusives that I've been really impressed with. Quality sound throughout.
Could an original pressing beat it?
Probably, but this repress goes for half the price of an og NM copy and the laminate and poster are a nice touch.

Edited 3 years agoThis version is cut by Chris Bellman (CB), not cut by Bernie Grundman (BG) as noted in the link below, and it sounds pretty darn good, especially for $24.97 its tough to be beat for a new pressing. Walmart does not make records, only thing they did was get a special packaging for it which is fine, great to get a replica tour .
Does it match my original press SQ wise? Ehh, its close but for sure I prefer the original but I'm not gonna pay that kind of money for a VG++/NM version or $300 for MFSL version.
