I recently decided to listen to this album again. In complete silence, lying in bed and with ordinary stereo headphones... An unusual enchanted atmosphere emanates from "Mezzanine", which repels with its dark, attractive sound. In my humble opinion, this disk does not have a bad track... The vinyl sound does not differ in quality from the CD sound, which surprises me to this day!
"A world of gloomy trip-hop" - a quote from one magazine...
The band combines melancholic melodies, deep bass lines, and multi-frequency vocal parts. This music seems to have been born in the shadow of the night streets, where every sound reminds of something secret and unspoken in the human soul... Although, as it turned out to me later, Massive Attack has an innate talent for the philosophy of life. If other albums were more "cheerful" in sound, this one was radically different from them, but having the same meaningful structure about spiritual values. Despite the tone of the album, I still find it calm and in some ways inspiring. Perhaps it's just my opinion, but "Mezzanine" is a perfect way to get out of despair, no questions asked. Over time, I appreciate it much more than before -
Think I have this version bought the day of release. Did anyone else get a sampler CD disk of non Massive Attack music to launch their own record label?

I am baffled that they didn't use the gatefold for the vinyl release (neither the original or the repress), the artwork just screams for that lavish treatment.
