I’m literally speechless… This album sounds incredible on my Pro-Ject with 2M Blue. This is the one of my best sounding records. The soundstage is huge and the hi-end details just blew my mind! Absolutely worth grabbing. I think this is made from the original 2001 stampers as it has the same runout numbers, as well as the Record Industry ones.

Edited 4 years agoThis pressing is very close to being excellent, but doesn’t quite hit all the marks. The sound quality is generally very good, but a few songs are sullied by sibilance issues and the sound quality degrades slightly when nearing the end of each side. The LPs are well made, as are the jacket and printed inner sleeves. The jacket is not gatefold, but I assume they were just copying the design of the 2001 release, which was also not gatefold. The artwork is nearly perfect comparing directly to the original, but there is a better color contrast on the original cover. Michael’s digital eye is darker and stands out more vividly on the original. This reissue wins in the heaviness category all around. The vinyl, jacket and inner sleeves are all much heavier than the original’s. As far as comparing sound quality, it was a tough one. Both releases have issues with IGD and sibilance, but, after hot swapping LPs and scrutinizing the flaws, this reissue is overall a more pleasant listen. So, I would recommend spending your money on this MOV reissue over the original 2001 pressing if you are trying to decide between them. But, either version is worth picking up for the right price. Just don’t go spending big bucks expecting a blissful listening experience. Especially if your favorite song is “Break of Dawn”, because, sadly, that song experienced the worst of the sound quality problems.

This is a night and day difference from the horrid 2018 picture disc release. This one is quiet, dynamic, and sounds incredible overall while the picture disc seems to be mastered completely differently. That one has a flat, muddy sound (on top of your typical picture disc issues with surface noise). This one is well worth grabbing.

My copy is not good, lots of surface noise, it's very annoying in the soft parts. The album is OK compared to MJ standards of course. Some songs are great, some I don't like, specially the electric and rap ones. But well worth it for the good ones!! I do not recommend the 2009 EU pressing
