Mit dem dritten Stück "Power to the meek" folgt endlich ein rockiges Stück, daß aber zu sehr an "Would I lie to you?" erinnert. Sorry, schiefgelaufen. Dann folgen mit "Anything but strong" und "I´ve tried everything" sogar Songs mit orchestraler Untermalung. Naja.

Edited 8 years agoHalf-baked and uninspiring, "Peace" arrived much too late to change anything about Eurythmics themselves, or the issues they so desperately address with it. It don't even sound like a "Eurythmics" album as such, more like a Dave Stewart solo-effort (imagine him taking over from U2, or Tom Petty, who gave up on their own album making) that could have featured any other vocalist just the same. Annie doesn't really make a difference here, sounding rather forced, the annoying lament and patronising endlessly about the pain of the world. In the end it turns sounding like a pain in the neck.
If for some consolation, two songs partially do stand out - the jazzy "I Saved the World Today" (despite one too many "hey heys", "here to stays" and "gone aways") is the only proper song off the album and for that reason a deserved choice of a single, and the closing number "Lifted" (which pleasantly reminds of Annie's "Cold"). "Power to the Meek" adds a nice "feel good" moment to the song. The remaining part of "Peace" is sadly forgettable and shallow, and nowhere near on par with their better known earlier work. Which is too bad - knowing their ilk, "Peace" could have been a truly great comeback album. Instead, it's a boring and hopelessly dated affair.
It feels like I'm 17 again? More 71 like.
