Edited 2 months agoI played on one turntable where the cartridge/tonearm isn't very well calibrated and there were distortion issues throughout, with a couple spots that skipped on side B. Then I played it on another turntable that's been properly calibrated and it played flawlessly, no skips nor crackles.
Maybe other people here could benefit from double checking how their turntable is set up. -
A very dope record! The sound staging is incredible, mine had a bit more pops than I’d like but it almost blended into the style. Still a awesome listen on a wide system!

i feel so bad for anyone whose pressing isn't great. i just picked this up 2nd hand and it sounds incredible. amazing soundstage and detail. very 3D. i'll be giving my OG black vinyl pressing to a friend.

I was kind of afraid after reading some of the reviews but I found a used copy for 19.99 at amoeba which I can always exchange for something else if it's bad. But after 2 listens I can't really hear anything that makes the experience bad. Sounds better than the Itunes version but I wish it would flip on it's own. I hate getting up from laying down eyes closed and flipping a vinyl. That is why I'm not a 7inch fan haha.

Edited one year agoIt sounds good sometimes and not so good at other times. Basically, it sounds best when you play it loud, but if the volume is jacked way up, then when the vinyl gets noisy, it sounds really, really bad. At times, noise from the vinyl is hard to distinguish from noise that is part of the "music". At those times, listening becomes an unpleasurable experience.
Overall, quality control on the vinyl was not what it should have been and that really detracts from this album. I got it for free, so I won't complain too bad, but it is disappointing. I'm glad some people have gotten really quiet pressings, but I just wanted to share (for what it's worth) that was not my experience.
UPDATE: After living with it for a while, I will say that I have come to regard this as one of the worst pressings I have ever received from VMP. I think vinyl does nothing for this music and in fact gets in the way. I wish I had never gotten this on vinyl at all. I think the album is better enjoyed digitally. -
Edited 2 years agoI heard this album when it first came out and it immediately stood out from everything else. Was looking for a 2nd shipping filler record and couldn't believe when appeared on the sellers store. This has the most BEAUTIFUL colored vinyl I have EVER seen. Especially spinning on a white Rega Planar 3. I hope this album gets more recognition as the years go on.

One of my most coveted snags. Pressing is absolutely flawless start to finish. Amazing staging and dynamic range.
Easily in the top 5 cleanest records I own, and the VMP packaging and goodies are just the sweetest cherry on top. This is a "cold dead hands" record for me. -
I really was unlucky. My copy is riddling with clicks and pops and is almost unlistenable on certain tracks. This is after multiple cleanings. :(

Really amazing pressing sound wise, indeed. Deep, clear, and the cover details are awesome.
Mine came warped though, especially the 2nd record, probably due to the little notebook. It’s a pity because they are much more beautiful than the printed stuff they do now, but thank god they stopped using them.
Emailed VMP with the issue, am now waiting for a replacement copy. -
Edited 2 years agoI have the original black vinyl edition and thought it sounded extremely good. Now I own this VMP edition and I’m amazed how much clearer, more details and more dynamics it is.!
No problem on Paper Trail either. Near perfect pressing.
