I have to disagree with The Spinners I'll be around the Reflex do good work but this cut can be re-edit,
but anything thing else you can't replace the soul that Philly put into it,
just my opinion that all. -
I loved both versions. Even Copacabana. I felt it was done properly with just the right amount of "editing" and the soul wasn't lost. In fact, he made it into a piano house jam reminiscent of the 80s and 90s.

The Copacabana edit is OK but the Spinners edit on the B side is where its at. The Reflex is a total pro editing classics from the stems, while not making them "too cleaned up".

Edited 5 years agoAs a big fan of the original version of "Copacabana", my mam was tingling with excitement, to hear this new edit. Sadly, it did not go well. Because after donning her tight leather mini-skirt and favorite, leopard print top (the one with the plunging neckline), and fetching a large tumbler of Malibu, my mam began to prepare for a good bop. However my mam grew so angry to discover that the thrilling, love triangle narrative (between Lola (the showgirl), Tony, and Rico) was now nowhere to be heard. The track is almost entirely an instrumental. Then, when she found out that the iconic chorus had been removed, she finally flipped and shouted at me, demanding furiously, "TURN IT OFF, AND PLAY THE ORIGINAL!" so I did, as I was so frightened. When she at last heard Barry Manilow's soft, but powerful, voice come through the speakers she started to gyrate lewdly in time to the music, and holding her big tumbler of Malibu aloft, lustily declared, "YOU CAN'T BEAT A BIT OF BARRY!!"
