If I built a huge system with 18 inch subs, this is probably the first record I would play to test it out.

Edited 5 years agoBlew my mind when I first heard it, and still never fails the hairs on the back of my neck. Deeeep bass, soaring strings, classic vocal snip and the perfect snap on that amen! Plus the usual diversions into the mystery that complete the arc of all Bukem's best. They nailed this one, an absolute classic

19.5 is very good but for me the Reprisal is the one I reach for nowadays. Never heard it played out at the time but it just takes things to a new level blending the original with the flavour of Atmospheric Jubilancy (tighter amens overlaid with another steppy little break) and those soaring heavenly choir pads. Just a perfect all round dub mix. Once it goes on have to listen 3 or 4 times. Thankfully not one of those VIP unreleased mixes!
There's also another more recent version of this tune done by Tom Middleton - 19.5 Liquatech Mix. Sadly unreleased as far as I know but added the YT video here. More housey with classy production and very respectful to the original. Shame never came out would have gone nicely on an Earth Volume...
I always assumed 19.5 was in reference to it being just under the general 20hz frequency that humans can hear. Starts off with deep bass so maybe? -

19.5 - what a tune, uplifting atmospherics and the stunning amen break coupled with a rolling deep bassline. Absolutely amazing and what an era for jungle / drum n bass. Bukem was unstoppable with GLR back in the day

always loved this track since i first heard it .very typical of what i would expect from bukem coupled with the extra input of peshay , atmospheric and uplifting, not the hardest of amens , but just the right sprinkle of ingredients 4 out of 5 ;-)

The early break drop of 19.5 is one of the best amen choppages ever done in jungle! two special tunes.
