Forgive me, I'm not that good at writing reviews, but this album is SO special that I had to write something about it.
Where do I begin? This is what you call a musical trip. This album literally takes you on a journey and it has made a deep impression on me. How could they have overlooked this album in 1992?
The mysterious opening number takes you directly into space, looking for life on another planet. The break-beat driven pattern combined with ambient strings is a very good track for a perfect start on this journey. After this launch, we arrived on planet Dencity:
We look around from one surprise to the other. Everything is so different at Dencity. This planet gives a special feeling. I can feel it ... I can feel it ... It's all going to be allright. We hear someone talking in the distance, we want to walk towards him. It starts raining. We unexpectedly fall into a puddle. We sink, but weirdly enough we can breathe. While floating with our eyes wide open, we look around again full of wonder. Such a rich underwater life does not exist on planet earth, fish as bright as the sun, plants as colorfull as the rainbow. All of a sudden an enormous turtle. He takes us on his back, and swims at high speed towards the surface. Once we reach the surface we float on the waves towards new land.
It is suddenly hot and dry. We seem to have arrived in a mysterious place that reminds us of the Far East. We look back at the water, but the turtle has already disappeared. We hesitantly put our first footsteps in the warm sand. We see buildings in the distance, would it be a mirage or is it real? We walk and walk, but the buildings don't seem to get any closer. I look to the right and see something green, it seems like an oasis.
From this green environment we can hear sounds of animals that nobody knows exist . Suddenly we hear drums. While dancing around the campfire we see dozens of children. They laugh and don't worry about anything. Is this how luck looks like? The drums have a hypnotic effect. We dance along. Time does not seem to exist here and yet the evening slowly falls. Once we are exhausted from dancing and decide to walk on.
After a while we sit down on a large rock on the edge of a mountain. It gives a beautiful view of the unknown world. Tired we fall asleep, bump into each other. Suddenly I wake awake. I float and no longer have control over my own body. Slowly I float into the sky, but I see myself lying on that stone. Shouting makes no sense, I won't wake up anyway. I don't want to leave this planet. I drift to a point where I can no longer see myself. The sky is black, but I do see other stars, ready to be discovered.
LSD for your ears.
