Why has no one told me of this great stuff before? Here I am, going towards 60, and I have never heard this record before! Almost like The Residents.

There's another release floating around with Ryko's patented pale green case with a clear tray, as opposed to the regular grey tray version listed on here that I have. The clear tray one also has a barcode on the top middle of the back. They both have the same catalog number. Could someone with this reissue make a release page for it?

Superior Viaduct is reissuing both Hardcore volumes, separately and bundled on vinyl, and as a double CD, out May 14. -
This compilation is easily towered over by its successor, Vol 2. While the second volume features a lovable helping of material, practically all of which has never been heard outside of Hardcore Devo, this one is only 15 tracks with plenty of room for a few more pieces of music but ends at about 42 minutes; what's worse, a lot of the material has been pre-recorded since these early incarnations, and as much as hearing demos of songs we love is nice, the impact of the disc--to me at least--is burdened by these (5) tracks, especially since both CD's go for about the same price while you get so much more material on the second one.
I do enjoy this CD, however, and have a number of favorites; some, though, I can live without, like the version of 'Satisfaction' which is so identical to the album take that I'm pretty shocked it even made it on here, and would think that only maniacal DEVO completists would care to hear the difference.
I'd say that VOl 2 would be a much better buy for curious DEVO fans and would recommend purchasing that first.
