ok so that's that - bandcamp is officially showing this as SOLD OUT, thou had to log out to actually confirm it...

Did they reissue this or make more of them? I was pretty sure it was sold out. I bought one the other day and Bandcamp said 5 remaining. When I bought mine, it ticked down to 4 remaining. I looked back today and it still says 5 remaining. (Also, mine got here today and it sounds amazing.)

This is still available directly from Shpongle's Bandcamp page for (slightly) less than the cheapest copy here. Ignore the third party profiteers!

The packaging of this release is just absolutely gorgeous, I am so glad I picked one up. The build quality is on point, and the graphics just look freaking incredible. Twisted did a really nice job with these special edition releases.

Decided to purchase the remastered versions of the albums on a whim, and noticed this record is still available on Bandcamp: 16 left as of writing.

Edited 3 years agoI spent last night and most of today going through my vinyl and listening to a lot of music. This album puts everything else I own to shame. The stereo imaging, dynamics, and clarity are beyond anything I thought possible for vinyl. It literally sounds better than the digital versions I've listened to on Bandcamp and streaming services and I don't mean because of the "charm" of vinyl and how I prefer listening to some music on vinyl because of the atmosphere and ritual of setting everything up. This vinyl album kicks harder and more clearly than almost anything I've heard on physical or digital media. I usually listen on my JBL 308p MKii studio monitors while I work at the computer and they (and my room) are trimmed for accurate monitoring which is very unforgiving when it comes to surface noise and high frequency distortion that I've noticed when some labels try to cram too much music on an album (Ori and the Will of the Wisps). But this vinyl album shows off the range of these monitors better than most WAV and AIFF music I have. I have lot's of psytrance on my drive and yeah its clinical and articulated and jammin but there's just something magical about Simon's music and the immersive experience created here. I'm floored every time I put this on the platter. Also just a tip: the first thing I do when I get new vinyl is clean it (new and used, you'd be surprised what comes off brand new vinyl) and put them in Mofi antistatic sleeves. I give them a quick clean before and after every play and it makes all the difference, I never understand why people don't invest in better sleeves or why so many albums ship in paper.

Edited 4 years agoSimply amazing piece of art. The case is very large so I bought some new larger outer sleeves for box releases from a company called "protected" and even these are too small. I hope I can fit the box inside two sleeves, one from below and one put on top.
Sound quality is amazing. Very clear. B side of disc one had a bit much crackling noise compared to the pretty much noise-free A side. Have yet to listen to the second disc.
EDIT: The solution with two box size sleeves worked but was extremely uncomfortable, so it now stands unprotected in my shelf.
Furthermore I am currently listening to the second disc and I am a bit disappointed. It does sound amazing, but there is very noticable background noise. In very few points of the album, but they are there, which I did not expect due to the high price. Especially in the very beginning of the very first track on the C side (track 9, When Shall I Be Free). As you might know the track starts of very silent with some vocals but the whole ambience gets ruined for me by the noise.
Maybe this is just my setup though that is not up to audiophile standards or something.
I wouldn't know though as this is my first turntable (Pro-Ject Debut III) and phono-preamp (Schiit Mani) and I have no experience with records at all, but I doubt it since other records I bought didn't have these problems. I have done quite a bit of research before though and am handling my records very carefully and always clean up the, mostly almost non-existing, dust before every play with the Ortofon Record Brush.
There was also a very little white speck on the D side that I was only able to get rid of with an alcohol cleaning cloth. Other than that the D side also has some background noise on silent parts and small crackles but other than that it sounds pretty great.
Overall I am very happy to have this and am looking forward for any other records I will buy from Shpongle.
I can't wait to really hear this some day. -
Expensive. Sure. Pretty. You bet. Sounds glorious too. Had some spare benjamins and don't regret this purchase for a second. Arrived from the UK to SF in 2 days too. Nice.
