When it comes to wholehearted tributes to British dance music's turn-of-the-'90s golden era, few labels have captured the energy and excitement of the period quite as well as Tone Dropout. Here the London label dishes out a sixth serving of retro-futurist madness. Highlights naturally come thick and fast throughout. We're particularly impressed by the twisted acid lines and mind-altering psychedelic vibe of The He-Men's "Rolla", the bleep-meets-"Strings of Life" rush of Leeds lad DJPC's "Danger Man", Dawl's stab-happy fusion of electro and early hardcore ("Party Till The A.M") and the "bleep and breaks" rush of Craig Bratley's rumbling EP standout "From The DAT" (which, fittingly, was crafted from old demo recordings he made in the 90s).
