So many masterpieces on this compilation. Seriously needs an expanded, reissued, remastered release both on CD and vinyl. Some liner notes and info would be nice too as this is THE techstep classic. Lo by Nico is the standout track for me, that sadly isn't on the CD in full length version. Dirty, grimy and so dark.

Yes fellas, indeed one of the best D&B albums ever. Bought the original back in the golden days but didn't realise why it was so damn good. Now I get the connection between Drum&Bass and Techno and I still fu**** love it. Must have for every serious bass head.

Ed Rush at his best and the best era of Drum&Bass & Jungle ( 1993 - 2004 ) .
One if not the "ONE" best Record/CD to get from that style !! -
oh boy, this is GREAT! it was one of the first db albums i bought and i heard it so many times....it sounds still kind of futuristic, dark and heavy. one of my favourites, not only of that style but of all styles. real essential. " this beat try to accomplish one thing and that is to get to the future" right, man! 96 to 98 was the golden age of drum& bass and this is a perfect example.
the amen break was still used, but not so dominant as in the jungle music, it was combined with electronic beats and that generated sophisticated rythms, that blow your mind still today. -
Classic drum and bass. I don't have much more to say then what was allready said.
Great atmospheric music, at its best when mixed. It lade the blueprint for the later dark/tech d'n'b. -
The whole album is absolutely flawless. Beautifully crafted, razor sharp production, every tune is light-years ahead of its time.
Sector 3 though, come on, this tune is straight up malicious. Spaced out, minimal... and brutal. Those sonar robotic horns, seriously, absolutely evil. This is drum & bass

Edited 11 years agoThe birth of a new genre Tech-Step would of been written out of jungle/drum bass history had not been for Ed Rush and Doc Scott etc who created the sound and added a distinct European sound or rather assault on the Drum Bass industry Tech-Step had more in common with Belgium Techno than any other form because of its brutal samples from Frank De Wolf T99 Anasthasia etc this music was created under the influence of skunk a different mind blowing effect than Ecstasy this compilation from no u turn represents Tech-Step to the core. The beats our brutal the samples darker than the 1993 Rave period. This no u turn release is the only one your find that represents tech step to the core i heard Ed Rush wanted to hurt people with his beats he has acheived this on this album sure there is another comp called Techsteppin but this holds up better a Master Piece.
