Pulled this out just now...Maybe I just got lucky? It is a fairly flat slab, very little surface, and it doesn't sound horrible (a little bright...yes! Especially, on Glass Candle Grenades). Is it a perfect Remaster/Press...No...Is it the Worst...No...This is still a very listenable LP just could be better in my subjective opinion.

Edited one year agoAfter going back & forth based on these comments, I ordered this repress. Too bright for my taste, sounded very digital, played it once, then ordered the UK original.
-
Better than the Vinyl180 pressings, but the sound is still so incredibly dynamically compressed that it is close to unlistenable. Sounds like MP3 on a shitty DAC.

Edited 2 years agoHmmphf my new copy is noisy as heck. TONS of surface noise, very noticeable during the opening track, between tracks, and anytime they go quiet (like Multifoiled where she sings over just the drums). Not impressed with the remastering either this is so compressed. I am not enjoying this copy at all, and am a huge fan this is my favorite album, so I know how great the disc sounds. I think I may be better off reselling it and shelling out for an original pressing. Or maybe just toss it so no one else is burdened by it and at least one is out of circulation.

Just bought it and took a nice nap while listening to it, nothing like a "Cocteau Twins nap." Otherworldly, lovely, great pressing!

the quality of the pressing is pristine. the remaster delivers more depth and slight improvement on clarity, but don't expect liz fraser's vocals or the drums to perform differently. the overall production seems unchanged.

I own an original...how does this remaster sound? Is it worth getting or should I stick to the original?
