I thought it was quite appropriate to resuscitate the Bloody Fist Old Rope record label to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the label, pondering the ups and downs of an independent business from 1994 to 2004. The Fist Plate record is such a killer piece of vinyl. This also included the excellent Fistography party full of great music and unwanted body odour. The Fistography exhibition was fucking amazing, the pièce de résistance of the anniversary, Mark N's hard work to get it up and running is truly remarkable. The fourth release on this label is by Gavin Burke from Syndicate assembled in his bedroom at the front of their house.

Impact was made alongside all the other tracks from their magnus opus, Appetite For Destruction. It didn't make the cut due to the final note looping at the end. Having said that, it's a proper full on piece of Industrial Speedcore. The dark ominous intro and the tension filled horror stab sounds, fast kicks, loud hi-hats, dirty Breakbeats, yeah classic Syndicate. With the Burke brothers being massive Hip Hop fans, they always sample excellent lyrics, and since their Hardcore is double the speed of 80's and early 90's Hip Hop, it seems to fit perfectly with their music. As is the case with Syndicate's interpretation of Hardcore, Impact has this intense drive to it, to be fair, it's hard to explain. Excellent NCL Hardcore. I also like the fact that technically the track never ends.

Keeping up the theme laid out on Appetite For Destruction, for every Industrial Speedcore track there's also a grimy Breakbeat tune coughed up from a Amiga and Protracker doing its best to remind us of 1993. The dope Rap samples have been taken from the classic Eric B and Rakim t, Let The Rhythm Hit Em and Freddie Foxx/Bumpy Knuckles verse from Hot Potato by Naughty By Nature. The darker stabs in the second half are a good addition. Interesting to note that Trapped was made by Gavin Burke and not Warren Burke who was making the dirty breakbeats for Syndicate, probably shows how talented Gavin really is. It's quite fitting that Trapped is the final track off Syndicate's final album, The End.

Both tracks built in The Lab in Jesmond NSW 2299. Excellent 7" vinyl release. On a slightly related note, since Impact was made during the Appetite For Destruction sessions, up until the middle of 2001 five years after its release: how the hell were there still original copies of FIST 06 still available for sale on the Bloody Fist website? Cue the theme to Unsolved Mysteries. :)
