I don’t know what some of you are listening to this album on but the record sounds great. Granted it’s bass heavy to say the least but it Fucking blows me through the wall! It’s still clear and a quite pressing
-
Packaging is great, although the poster and the jacket feel unusually thin. I would recommend an outer sleeve if you pick this one up. I also wish the code came with WAV files instead of MP3s, but that's me griping. The record is a nice pink, and I love the blue sleeve. It sounds okay - it's very quiet with no distortion or sibilance. However, as others have mentioned, the highs are a bit too quiet, and the digital version sounds more vibrant and punchy. A remaster for the vinyl version of this album would be nice, but in 2017, that shouldn't have been an issue. It's nice to have and I'm definitely keeping this, but I don't play it often.

I love how tracks like Savior and Happy Birthday, Johnny sound on the vinyl, but I'd agree with other reviewers: the more heavily-produced songs lose a bit of their charm and quality in this format.
-
Needs too much EQ to sound as good as the CD/digital version. I don't think this album is really "meant" for vinyl. At least - I don't think there's much in the way of benefit to having it on vinyl if we're going strictly by sound. I'll be ditching my copy.
-
definitely not as bright as the digital/streaming version, but overall not terrible. the bass is very pronounced and not muddy, sonically its spaced well. the only problem is that the highs are definitely mixed lower

No issues with my pressing.
Regarding the cut/recording I think it sounds excellent. Its not as bright as the digital (as others have noted) but it has lots of resolution. Plenty of sonic depth and Annie’s voice is clearly positioned on the soundstage for a great listen. As usual, I understand more of the lyrics and am more mesmerized by the music in this format. What more do you want?

Mine is somewhere in the middle of the two extremes of the reviews. The SQ is satisfactory after the record was cleaned on my Okki Nokki, although it still carries a few ticks and pops. To my ear the record is not as dynamic as it could be but is still very listenable.
As for the album itself? It’s a modern classic! -
Disappointing sound quality on the vinyl. Muffled highs and weak lows. It was bad enough I thought there might be something wrong with my setup, but after checking to make sure the needle was clean and playing a few other records - nope, it was only this record. Digital version is great.
-
This is an absolutely dreadful master/pressing, with the high end rolled off. For a record that is aping '80s production, it should sparkle and shine, but it's muddy and sounds like it was mastered for an AM radio. One of the most disappointing releases of the year!!! Especially as the songs on the digital are just amazing sounding. This should not be a modern
problem, folks. -
Edited 7 years agoMy copy plays very well. No surface noise, perfectly flat, spindle hole fits as it should. No issues whatsoever
