Coki – Spongebob / The End

its a classic without a doubt and evn though this sound got a bit overkill, the spongebob tune does it in style

Genius tune that laid the template to this one dude Skrillex for example. He later outdid this tune with Goblin.

No denying Spongebob left a lasting impression on Dubstep...and you could say for the worst. I first heard this on a clip of the bug playing a music festival in spain (Sonar?)...and the place was just having it.

I love this track personally....

Spongebob is massive! But The End is probably one of the most underrated Coki tunes. That little bit right before the break and the end is so friggin cool. So glad to own this on wax finally!

Anybody know the tempos / BPMs of these tunes?

Granted this is probably my least favorite DMZ release, but to say it has little lasting impact is a bit short sighted. The amount of mid range riffage clones that came after this is almost unmeasurable. No one was doing it like this before the dmz boys were droping it. And it certainly stands out in their catalog as being the most aggressive thing to date and I've got to wonder if they put it out as a message to everyone else on the "harder then hard" contest. It doesn't get any rougher then "Spongebob," period. Coki set a new standard, yet again.

"The End" on the flip is really over shadowed, too. Which is unfortunate as it's a really good tune that doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

I'm not really sure what Coki was going for on these tracks. Neither "Sponge Bob" or "The End" have any elements that I find interesting. These sounds have all been heard before to greater effect on other Coki releases and at this point the razor bass sounds contrived.

I don't recall hearing any dj play these tunes out certainly not since the record was first released. Far from the classic status of earlier releases, DMZ 013 seems to have been forgotten already.

Spongebob is a relentlessly warped piece of dubstep. If 808 state had made Cubic without any variation of the notes so that they repeated except for a wobble at the end, sounding like someone rubbing their finger on the label of the record, quickly slowing, then speeding up the pitch of it, you get the idea of the brutality in the simplicity of this record. Then it stops, and where you might expect some kind of gear change, pounds on just like before. I like it!
I read in an article in the Gaurdian that Spongebob's metallic wobble-riff is apparently made from the cartoon character's laugh slowed down drastically. haaa haaa haaa haaa
